ABzero, based in Pisa with operating sites in Cascina and Isernia, grew out of a project started in Pontedera in 2018. It builds a system for moving medical materials by drone. At its center is the Smart Capsule, a container with sensors that tracks the condition and position of blood, tissue, biological samples, medicines and potentially organs, fits most commercial multicopters and sends data in real time for flights beyond the pilot's line of sight. Supervision software and landing stations complete the system.
