XOCEAN, founded in Ireland in 2017, collects ocean data with uncrewed surface vessels: small robotic boats monitored and controlled remotely from shore. The vessels carry multibeam echosounders, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profilers and magnetometers to map the seabed, check subsea assets such as cables and pipelines, and monitor the environment and fish stocks.
