The FCC added all drones and drone critical components produced in foreign countries to the Covered List. New models that did not have a valid FCC authorization before December 22, 2025 cannot receive one, so they cannot be imported or sold in the U.S. Models authorized before that date may continue to be used, sold, imported, and marketed. Three exemptions exist: the Blue UAS Cleared List and Framework, domestic end products under the Buy American standard, and Conditional Approvals from the Department of War or the Department of Homeland Security.
