An interim final rule from the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security implements the SAFER SKIES Act, which lets trained and certified state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement and correctional agencies use approved counter-drone systems against credible drone threats. It sets two tiers of training and certification (detection and warning; mitigation). Only agency officers may operate mitigation systems; companies may design, make, sell, install, maintain, and train on them. Approved systems are listed by make and model on the FBI's Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal.
